HOW TO PROMOTE YOUR POD:
1. PRE-QUALIFY YOUR PODCAST
First rule of any podcast is to ask yourself "is it worth saying?" Much like any art, this may be measured in different ways, but ultimately the question of "will I have an listeners" should be considered since the internet endlessly continues to fill up with information and noise. Remember that much like writing, content is king. The same is true for podcasts. The better your material, the more likely people will listen to you.
2. DIRECTORY SUBMISSION
The primary means of promoting your podcast is through podcast directories. These directories contain categories (or genres) under which you can post your podcast. It is believed that there are under 100 of podcast directories at the time of writing this article such as these. Save yourself days worth of work and submit your podcasts through PodcastSubmitter.com instead.
3. HELP OTHER PODCASTERS AND BLOGGERS
You should consider helping others, and participating in relevant communities and blogs. As you become an expert in your area, or people begin to like what you have to say, they will begin to listen to your pods (and blogs perhaps). In fact, podcasting promotion is similar to blog promotion in many facets.
4. FOCUS ON YOUR LISTENERS
Of course once you have a good following, directory submission is not nearly as important as pampering your fans. Treat 'em like your good friends. They will likely have friends with similar interests, and promote you via word of mouth.
